FOUNDER

RODRIGO GUTIERREZ

Corialent

12 years ago, Rodrigo decided that the Coca Colas of the world shouldn’t be the only ones who get to have all the fun in the advertising industry. He was sick of all the dull, corporate, navy blue and white B2B work out there. Business people are people too. Corialent specializes in B2B marketing that doesn’t suck. And they want to get the rest of the industry drinking that delicious KoolAid.

Beneficial Training

Beneficial training is one of the best ways to ensure that employees reach full potential in their jobs. As training courses are becoming more popular, companies are realizing the benefits of training their employees as they can reap greater benefits in terms of job satisfaction, a better work ethic and a much longer working lifespan. But while training your staff can certainly bring about many positive results, it's important to strike a balance between the costs and benefits of training. This article will highlight some of the key benefits that come with training.

Cost benefit - When undertaking training, it can be incredibly costly. So you need to consider a variety of factors when deciding how to implement an employee training program. It's important to first consider the level of staff involvement in such a program. If the majority of staff members are not actively involved in the training program then you could find that overall attendance is low. This can result in little or no benefit being derived from the training program.

But if the majority of staff members take part in the training then you could find that overall attendance and participation levels are quite high. This then results in a greater level of benefits derived from the training program. For example, a more motivated team member will be able to tackle tasks quickly and correctly, so that they don't waste valuable time. Also, a trained employee will be able to perform more efficiently, therefore providing companies with a greater Return on Investment (ROI).

Results Benefit - It's easy to see how a training program can have numerous benefits on the positive side. In addition to the obvious benefits of a trained and motivated team member being more productive, another key benefit is a more thorough understanding of the job they are performing. It can help avoid unnecessary mistakes being made during the day, which can result in lost time and wasted money. Companies also find that a well-trained employee is happier and more likely to show an interest in the work that they are doing, which can also have a profound effect on the company as a whole.

Who Benefits? - Obviously, companies that invest in training are benefiting the whole organisation. However, there are other key personnel who stand to benefit from the training too. For example, an excellent team leader will have a significant benefit to their team, while a new recruit may have a wide range of benefits to the organisation as a whole.

Who gets the Training? - This is one of the biggest question marks surrounding a training program. If you're the manager of a particular team or department, then obviously it's unlikely you'll want all your employees to take part in the training. But everyone in an organisation should benefit from training - regardless of whether they are managers team members, or simply new recruits.

Who Trainees? - Depending on the type of training you provide, it's likely that different types of staff will be required to take part in the programme. Some will need training to improve their own job skills, some will need training to improve their specific job role, and others may even need training just to be up-to-date on the role they are working in. The best approach is to target employees who will need the most help with specific sections of your company's business, and assign the training to these people.

Who is Best Qualified for the Role? - Again, this all comes down to the specific roles you have. For example, an accountant will be better off taking part in an accountant training course than a new recruit with no business experience. Similarly, a customer service rep will be better suited to training for this role than someone with sales experience. Ultimately, it's important to consider your company's specific needs so that you can allocate the appropriate training to the right candidates for each role.
